1Real,
I only recently learned of your struggle with bipolar disorder and depression. I’ve known of you through your time on General Hospital and your tour fishing.
I was diagnosed with depression about five years ago. At first I rejected the diagnosis. After all, it wasn’t like I was walking around sobbing all the time. But the more I learned about it, the more I understood that depression has many facets and I did have the signs.
I spent two years on meds and gave those up after family told me that it was “mind over matter” and that I just needed to be more focused, disciplined and strong. That is certainly a matter of debate, as depression and bi polar disorder are valid medical conditions.
Recently, I lost my job (like so many others have) and have been dealing with the blow with lots of exercise. There are days when I can’t get out of bed and days when I think that I can take on the world. Whatever day it is, it is a challenge; a challenge that only people who have experienced these conditions can truly understand.
Keep fighting!
Trish

3Hi Mate.
Having spent many years coming to terms with OCD and depression, I have to say, inspiring stuff. Still have days of it being all to much and when I crash it is back to the doctor for another round of meds (which I hate). Congratulations on not being run by it!!
You keep calling us champions. Well if that is true, then so are you.
